Hartland hosted our Winter Warm Up Invitational this past weekend with 10 teams from MI and OH. In addition to shooting against most of Michigan’s Top Teams (Gaylord St. Mary’s, Fowlerville, Poratge Central, Lakers School, Swartz Creek, and Johannesburg just to name a few) and one solid team from OH (Fairfield Christian) we also shot against multiple countries!!
We did it through Skype!
In the end Hartland teams won all three divisions and came in first place for ES, MS, and HS at our invitational (which was held at the old high school).
Throughout the day we were able to Skype with the teams from South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Canada.  During our 3:30 flight we had a “live” shoot not only in our gym but at the same time, with the Alberta Canada team.  The Captains from Hartland High and the Alberta team talked for a little while to each other about our 30 degree temp and their -20 degree temp, in addition to us ice fishing on 5″ of ice and them having to drill through 36″ of ice!!  Once we ended our captain’s meeting we had a former Hartland Archery Graduate (Lindsey Loruss) come back and sing the National Anthem live on Skype and Alberta had an archer sing their National Anthem.  It was awesome!  After the anthems Alberta ran the 10 meter flights with their whistle and I ran the 15 meter flights with my whistle.
Our invitational ended after that flight and Alberta shot one more live event with the top Missouri team.
So in the end after all countries and US teams entered our scores – Hartland came out on top!
3406 – Hartland High – Michigan

3396 – Lee’s Summit HS – Missouri

3338 – Zimbabwe
3329 – South Africa
3300 – Alberta, Canada
