It was a very cold night, but the Hartland Varsity soccer team didn’t seem to mind much as they dominated the visiting Lakeland Eagles in a decisive 6-0 win. The game was the first of Hartland’s 2015 season, and they wasted little time getting on the board, as junior Sakura Bals scored off an assist from junior Taylor Rollins within the first three minutes of play.
Play was fairly even for the next 12 minutes or so, and then sophomore Kennady Kuhlman added another goal, assisted by senior Marisa Jayne. After a foul awarded a free kick to Hartland, senior Maddie Pogarch scored with a well placed shot that went over the head of Lakeland goalkeeper Hannah Emerson. Before the first half came to an end, Hartland would get a fourth goal from senior Madison Hughes, with an assist from Bals.
Hartland continued to control the possession in the second half, with sophomore Jenna Halonen scoring and Hughes adding her second of the night, to bring the goal tally to 6.
Next up, Hartland takes on the visiting Okemos Chieftains on Tuesday night at 5:30 pm.
