The Hartland Bowling Teams had a long but successful day at Bowl Swami’s 2017 Motor City Team Challenge Saturday February 4, 2017. The program sent all five teams to compete, two Varsity teams and three JV teams. The qualifying round consisted of three individual games and four bakers. All five Hartland teams made it through this round to bracket/elimination play, but an administrative error prevented one of the JV teams from competing. However, Bob Goldsmith from this team had the highest average for JV Boys in the tournament with a 658 series over the three individual games. Congratulations Bob!
Including Goldsmith, five bowlers received Top 10 Tournament Team medals in three divisions. Goldsmith threw the highest average for JV Boys with his 658 series, and Mark Martin was third with a 639 series. For JV Girls, Natalie Fisher was second overall with a 436, and Jamie Erickson was fourth with a 422. Finally, for Varsity Girls, Michelle Thompson was fifth with an impressive 595 series. Congrats to each of you!
After the individual awards were distributed, the competition continued. Team bracket play consisted of two baker games; the field was then reduced by half and reseeded for the next round. Both girls’ teams were eliminated in the first round of bracket play. Both boys’ teams survived two more rounds to advance to the final three head-to-head baker games. The Varsity Boys’ team bowled against Waterford Kettering in the final and lost by a heart-breaking single pin. The JV Boys’ team placed fourth overall in their division. Excellent bowling, all around!
