LOWELL — Hartland beat two softball teams honored in the state rankings to win the Lowell Varsity Tournament.
After opening with a 13-5 victory over Lowell, Hartland won 3-0 over Caledonia in a matchup of Division 1 teams that are on the honorable mention list.
The Eagles won the championship with a 9-2 victory over Grandville Calvin Christian, last year’s Division 3 runner-up and currently the No. 5 team in its division.
Sam Nagel was 7-for-13 with eight RBI and five runs for Hartland (21-5). Madeline Skene drove in five runs and pitched a shutout over Caledonia.
Hannah Mourad was 6-for-9 with three runs and three RBI; Delanie Grundman was 5-for-12 with three RBI; and Clare Minsker was 5-for-9 with five runs.
