Multiple Teams · Good Friends (and Medals!) Soothe at the Heart Breaker Bakers

Hartland JV-A took second at the annual Bowl Swami Heartbreaker Baker tournament held Saturday, February 10th.  This tournament shakes things up a bit as bowlers compete in mixed teams of four or five.  Hartland sent four teams – two Varsity and two Junior Varsity.  Hartland Varsity A took fourth in their division.  Congrats to both!

JV-A:  Maverik Snider, Riley Griffin, Devin Guibord,
Brittany Salyers, Natalie Fisher, Coach Donnie Worthington

Teams bowled 12 qualifying baker games to reach match play.  Both Hartland Varsity teams and JV-A made the cut, while JV-B just missed.  JV-B was made up of Bob Goldsmith, Justin Towalski, Taylor Hutchinson, Mackenzie Moore and Rhianna Wroblewski.

In match play, teams had to win two of three baker games to move on.  The JV field was cut to four for match play.  Hartland defeated Stephenson in the first round, after three games.  They faced Lakeshore in the championship match.  Hartland took game one by one pin, when Fisher spared then struck in the tenth frame of game one.  However, Lakeshore took games two and three to win the title.

Over forty teams competed in the Varsity division.  The field was cut to the top sixteen after the qualifying round.  Both Hartland Teams made this cut.  Varsity B defeated Clarkston in the first round but fell to John Glenn in the second round.  Noah McClure, Michael Barlette, Hailey Howes and Jess Callaghan formed this team.

Varsity A defeated Dakota in round one and Utica in the quarterfinal, beating each team in two straight games.  They faced Lakeshore in the semifinal and took the first game, but Lakeshore went on to win the next two games.  Hartland then bowled L’Anse Creuse and ended the day in fourth place.
