Three bowlers earned individual medals as the Hartland bowling season kicked off this past Sunday at the 4th Annual Richard Hochstein Memorial Scholarship Invitational at Wonderland Lanes in Commerce Township. Bowlers with the ten highest scores and ten highest series were awarded medals for both boys and girls.
- Justin Towalski had the ninth highest series for the boys, with 632 over three games. Well done, Justin!
- Jess Callaghan, girls’ varsity captain, had the eighth highest score for the girls with 208, her personal best. Way to go, Jess!
- Newcomer Morgan Maliszewski had the 10th highest series for the girls with 550 over three games. Great job, Morgan!
Hartland send three teams – Boys and Girls Varsity and Boys JV. For varsity, the qualifying round consisted of three individual games and four baker games, and the top eight teams moved on to elimination baker games. The Varsity Girls team made the cut at sixth seed. Unfortunately, they were eliminated in the first round by Lakeland. The JV teams automatically moved on to the elimination games. JV boys faced Waterford Kettering in the first round; they lost the first game, and then won the next two to move on. It was not to be, however, and they were eliminated in the next round.
At this tournament, Hartland also debuted new uniforms for this season and looked mighty sharp. It’s going to be a great season!
