Pitching By Rachel Shuts Out Churchill, Hartland Eagles Varsity Takes The Win

Rachel Everett had all the right stuff on Monday for Hartland Eagles Varsity Softball, allowing zero runs and besting Churchill by a score of 18-0

Madelin Skene led the Eagles to victory by driving in six runs. She went 3-for-5 at the plate. Skene drove in runs on a triple in the fourth and a grand slam in the fifth.

In the first inning, the Eagles got their offense started when Sam Nagel singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Hartland notched seven runs in the fifth inning. Nagel, Kelsey Zampa, Clare Minsker, and Skene each had RBIs in the big inning.

One bright spot for Churchill was a single by Megan Nowak in the third inning.

Everett was credited with the victory for the Eagles. She allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking zero.

Paige Hanson took the loss for Churchill. She allowed 11 hits and nine runs over three and a third innings.

Hartland smacked one home run on the day. Skene had a dinger in the fifth inning.

Hartland had 16 hits in the game. Minsker, Skene, Brianna Robeson, Nagel, and Hannah Mourad each racked up multiple hits for the Eagles. Minsker led Hartland with four hits in four at bats. Hartland was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Delanie Grundman made the most plays with six.
