Grundman’s Walk-Off Gives Hartland Eagles Varsity Victory Over Clarkston in Quarter Finals
Hartland Eagles Varsity Softball took Tuesday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 3-2 walk-off victory over Clarkston, advancing them to the State Semi-Finals. The game was tied at two with the Eagles batting in the bottom of the seventh when Delanie Grundman singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Rachel Everett struck out five, while Clarkston pitchers sat down nine.
Clarkston opened up scoring in the first inning, when Paige Blevins doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Everett led the Eagles to victory in the pitcher’s circle. She allowed six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking one.
Olivia Warrington took the loss for Clarkston. She surrendered three runs on six hits over six and a third innings, striking out nine.
Hartland racked up seven hits on the day. Brooke Cowan and Grundman all collected multiple hits for the Eagles. Grundman and Cowan each collected two hits to lead Hartland.
