Hartland High School is proud to honor Claire Gostlin of the Girls Swim & Dive Team as this week’s ChoiceOne Bank Athlete of the Week — and her freshman season has been nothing short of remarkable. In her first year with the Eagles, Claire not only met but exceeded many of her ambitious goals. She shattered two 10+ year-old records in the 200 Individual Medley, setting a new pool record (2:10.07) and a new varsity record (2:08.37) — both standout accomplishments for any athlete, let alone a freshman. Claire also earned MISCA Championship qualifying times in all seven individual swimming events, an exceptionally rare achievement. At MISCA, she placed 3rd out of 59 swimmers in the 200 IM (2:08.74) and 7th out of 77 in the 100 Butterfly (:58.99). Her season continued at an elite level as she secured MHSAA Division 1 State qualifying cuts in five events: 200 IM 200 Freestyle 500 Freestyle 100 Butterfly 100 Breaststroke At the KLAA Conference Championship, Claire earned All-Conference honors in two events: 200 IM – 2nd Place (2:08.37) 100 Butterfly – 3rd Place (:59.00) Claire’s exceptional talent, work ethic, and competitive drive have made her one of the most impactful freshmen in program history, and her future with Hartland Swimming is incredibly bright. Congratulations to Claire on an extraordinary season and this well-deserved recognition!
