Hartland Athletics is proud to recognize Bodie Abbey of the Hartland Wrestling program as this week’s ChoiceOne Athlete of the Week following an outstanding performance at the prestigious Brecksville Invitational in Ohio. Competing against elite competition from across the region, Bodie delivered one of the most impressive tournaments of his season. Early in the invite, he avenged a previous overtime loss to a Division I state champion from Perrysburg, Ohio, securing a decisive first-period pin. Bodie continued his dominant run into the semifinals, where he defeated Ashton Besmer, the No. 2 ranked wrestler in the nation, to earn his place in the championship match. In the finals, Bodie faced Urijah Lopez, a nationally ranked top-25 wrestler, and emerged victorious to claim the tournament championship.
