Opening the year at the Plum Market Varsity Invitational at Tam-O-Shanter Country Club, the Eagles battled through a stacked 26-team field to secure a runner-up finish with a team score of 306. In a tightly contested leaderboard, Hartland finished tied for second with Rochester Adams, trailing only champion CC, who posted a 298. Warren De LaSalle and Orchard Lake St. Mary’s rounded out the top five. The Eagles were powered by a trio of top-ten performances. Junior Liam Kastamo and senior Michael Maurin each carded rounds of 75 to finish tied for 5th, while junior Aidan Oake followed closely with a 76 to place 8th. The consistency at the top of the lineup set the tone, but it was the depth that pushed Hartland into contention. With the team score hanging in the balance, junior Grant Sturos delivered a clutch moment, draining a birdie putt on 18 to finish with an 80 and help secure the tie for second. Not to be outdone, junior Ethan Hawkins parred his final hole to shoot 81, a score that proved critical in winning the 5th man tiebreak and solidifying Hartland’s position. In a field loaded with top programs, Hartland showed composure, balance, and the ability to deliver in key moments. One tournament in, and the Eagles have already put the rest of the field on notice.
