Friday, September 18th was a special evening for the Hartland community. The annual Gold Out game was about to be played in front of a packed stadium between crosstown rivals. Before the kickoff, our honorary captain Connor, made his way out on the field for the coin toss. Although he was surrounded by what likely seemed like giants, Connor was the biggest fighter in the group. The coin flipped end upon end and landed in favor of the Eagles. Some say it was Connor's web slinging skills that directed the coin, we might never know but it was the first win of the night and definitely not the last. To Connor and his family, just know that you have a community behind you. If you have the time please see the attached PDF to read about his story. To all the sponsors: THANK YOU! Polka Dot Realty & Property Management, Backyard Bats, 59 East Carwash, Turel Environmental Services, and Black Rock of Hartland. Your generosity and support help make nights like tonight possible, and we are incredibly grateful to have local businesses that continue to show up for our students, our community, and the fight against pediatric cancer. To the Band, Cheer, Football and Pom members, who helped to welcome Connor with open arms, you are the embodiment of the 3 R's. To everyone that came to the game and supported this event with donations, applause and positive thoughts we are truly grateful for the strong foundation of community involvement that is constantly put on display. Did you know that this year, Gold Out became student-led? We are beyond proud of our Student Gold Out Committee members — Alicia, Emily, Isabel, and Kaydence — who have stepped up to help carry on this incredible Hartland tradition. To those that guided this event behind the scenes with all of your time and effort just know that it doesn't go unnoticed. You have made the torch brighter for when the time comes that you decide to pass it on. Thank you also to Hartland Mobil and General Store for sponsoring an amazing Fireworks show that just happened to shine a little brighter after a 36-21 victory for the Eagles.
