Max Kotsilidis (Hockey & Boys Lacrosse) and Izzy DePestel were Hartland's nominees for Choice One (formerly State Bank) athlete of the year. Both athletes have built impressive resumes during their careers at Hartland. Both of these student-athletes excelled in the classroom and in their sport, but just as important was that they are both high character individuals who were leaders. Izzy DePestel was the Hartland female athlete of the year, but ran up against a strong candidate from Fenton that took the title on the women's side. This does not take away from the great legacy that Izzy has established at Hartland. Izzy will now take her talents to the University of Findlay to play soccer. Max Kotsilidis, a 2x All-American in Lacrosse, was the unanimous choice on the boys side. His achievements in the classroom, on the ice and on the lacrosse field helped him earn this honor against some great athletes from Holly, Fenton, Lake Fenton and Linden. Max will be playing lacrosse next year at U-Mass. We wish the best of luck to both of these athletes as they go forward in sport and life.
