Hartland, MI — The Hartland Boys Varsity Tennis team opened their season with a strong showing at the Fowlerville Invitational on Saturday, August 16, placing third out of eight teams. The Eagles finished the day with a combined record of 12 wins and 7 losses, just behind host Fowlerville and Milan. Several Eagles delivered standout performances across both singles and doubles play. At the top of the lineup, Noah Burd battled through a tough match to defeat Pinckney’s Andrew Eppler in three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 10-7. Kruz Kruszka followed with a dominant straight-set win over Hemlock’s Aiden McMillan, 6-2, 6-1, while Christos Kinney remained undefeated on the day, earning decisive victories against Eaton Rapids, Fowlerville, and Howell. In doubles competition, Dalton Suchland and Jayden Clemons provided one of the day’s most exciting moments, pulling out a 7-6 (4), 4-6, 10-4 win over Fowlerville. Meanwhile, the pairing of Levi Shaw and Alex Whitson found success with key victories over Ionia and Eaton Rapids. Rounding out the day, Quinn Kruszka and Ben Scherzer turned in an impressive performance with a 6-1, 7-6 (4) win against Milan, followed by a flawless 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Howell. Hartland’s balanced effort across singles and doubles secured their spot on the podium to start the season, and the Eagles will look to build on this momentum as they continue their non-conference and KLAA schedule in the weeks ahead.
